What? You missed the season premiere of the second season of The O.C? Yea, yea, blame the VCR or your TiVo. I guess then this info comes in handy...
December 23 will air TWO hours of The O.C.
At 8pm is this season's premiere and at 9pm is last year's Chrismukkah episode (a week after the 2nd season's Chrismukkah episode [1st season: The Best Chrismukkah Ever, 2nd Season: The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn't])

Fashion Police Those boots were made for walking Samaire
Nerd Up Nice guy Adam Brody brings his atypically casual OC style to the GQ Man of the Year awards. But no one informed the baby boy toy that this is a formal affair, requiring, if not a tie, at least a suit or sports coat. Unlike TV alterego Seth, Adam is clearly not searching for his "edge" in preppy black slacks, a mint green (untucked, OC-style) and a rumpled apricot cashmere v-neck sweater. At least no one can accuse Adam of being over-dressed.

On ''The O.C.,'' a big family secret is revealed: Lindsay is Grandpa Caleb's child from a brief fling; meanwhile, the officially ended relationships refuse to die by Annie Barrett (ew.com)
Just when I thought The O.C. had gone into a slight slump this season, the show throws a giant curveball: The pert, preppy, and red-haired Lindsay, a.k.a. Lindsbree, is actually Caleb's love child with a pert, preppy, red-haired woman named Renee Wheeler, rendering 90 percent of the people on this show related by blood or marriage.
I can't believe I didn't see this coming. They look alike. They're both new characters. They both change their minds every 30 seconds. I guess I just assumed that if Lindsbree had parents, they'd be Marcia Cross and Lindsay Lohan. But this way makes much more sense, at least on this show.
That wasn't the only surprise. Suddenly, a sizable chunk of the cast has become gardeners. Lindsbree introduced herself as ''Lindsay Gardner'' in episode 3; Julie admits to being the ''gardener'' to Jimmy's ''rich boy'' before they got married; and some of Julie's friends horrifyingly note that Marissa is dancing with ''the gardener.'' Noooo! He's supposed to be called the Yard Guy (YG)! It's as if the O.C. cast is reclaiming the word, which could have been rightfully theirs if Desperate Housewives hadn't started sooner and stolen all of fall 2004's gardener thunder.
I'm more than a little disappointed that Marissa, Summer, and Ryan have resorted to calling the YG by his real name, D.J. Those two letters just don't have the same sarcastically mocking ring as YG — and YG's still lackluster character really is begging to be mocked. We do meet another noun guy, Beer Guy, whom freaky Alex kisses to prove that last week's smooch with Seth didn't mean anything. But I doubt Beer Guy will be around in later episodes unless she decides she wants a Manual Labor Spectacular threesome with him and Seth in the storage closet. I mean, she's a woman, and crazy. So anything could happen.
Another minor curveball: Zach Attack is turning out to be kind of a dud. He reminds me of last season's (and one episode this season's) Luke — befuddled to a fault, but so innocent and perfect looking that you have to like him a little. Zach, however, makes that difficult this episode. He inexplicably visits Alex, who is not his friend, at the club and asks for advice. She rattles off something clever, and he states that he suspects she is being sarcastic. Oh, Zach. Don't do that. You never verbally acknowledge sarcasm. Strike one. Then Zach Attacks Seth with no warning outside the SnO.C. dance. (You gotta hand it to Seth Cohen: Women love him; men punch him and then immediately apologize.) Strike two. Then, when Zach finally has Summer to himself inside the dance, he asks her coyly, ''Will you go to the dance with me?'' and he thinks he's being funny. Dude, you're out. Go immerse those swollen knuckles in another glass of ice-cold Yoo-hoo.
While the writers are busy throwing us for a loop, new femme fatales Alex and Lindsbree are playing hot and cold with their new like interests, Seth and Ryan. With Alex, this is no surprise. She's kind of nuts. But this was the first deep look at Lindsbree's character. I'm still on the fence about her — I think she's good for Ryan, but her darts from nervousness to boldness and back again have me confused. Here's her rationale for why she shouldn't date her lab partner, Ryan.
1. He's him.
2. He's her lab partner.
3. He's a tough kid from Chino.
4. He lives in the Cohens' poolhouse.
5. His ex-girlfriend is ''intimidatingly beautiful.''
None of those are valid reasons, especially number 5, since Marissa is reportedly set to switch teams (or at least switch hit) come 2005. On the other hand, I love Lindsbree's rationale because I get to write ''intimidatingly,'' which I've been afraid to use before because it’s not recognized by my spell checker. But now that it’s been on TV, I feel perfectly comfortable using it. I'm going to do it again. Intimidatingly. I also love that Lindsbree owns a pair of ''Freudian slippers,'' although I rewound twice to watch Ryan's reaction, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't get it. Maybe he was remembering how much he misses his mother in Chino and just got distracted. In that last sentence, I was being sarcastic. See, Zach? Totally doesn't work.
In the end, people kiss. Ryan reverts back to his first-season persona by suggesting he and Lindsbree do something that doesn't involve talking — namely, Playstation and making out. Seth and Alex go at it again in the dimly lit club. In another curveball plot twist, Julie plants one on ex-husband Jimmy at the SnO.C. even though with her track record and proximity to high schoolers, you'd think she'd be on the prowl for 17-year-olds who used to date her daughter. Hmmm. She did kiss Ryan on the cheek. . . .
What do you think? Is Zach too short-tempered? Is YG too short for Marissa? And what will happen to the Cohens now that Caleb's secret is out?
Ok, because of my work internet being down and my inability to get much use on the home computer, I missed posting some info, like Rachel, Peter Gallagher & The Killers on late night talk shows in the past week. But, here is my chance to redeem myself. Please, the VERY NEXT info is SUPER SPOILERIFIC so bypass if you don't wanna know:
SHE'S COMING OUT: So this is how it's done on The O.C. when the ratings start to dip: Marissa comes out as a lesbian! Series creator Josh Schwartz is confirming rumors that Mischa Barton's lovelorn alter ego will fall for another girl in early '05. "Marissa is at a point in her life where she's trying to find herself and her true identity," Schwartz tells Out.com. "There's another character who she really connects with. It's a girl, which is not something Marissa may have anticipated. But she's willing and game to explore and experiment with that." Schwartz denies that the same-sex plot is just a stunt to boost the show's lagging Nielsens (last Thursday's episode hit a series-low 6.5 million viewers). "We cooked it up well before the show ever premiered this year," he says. "We're constantly looking at evolving and growing these characters. And challenging them. They're at that age where they're open to it. It was either that or Oliver's return." There he goes using that dreaded O-word again.
MORE O.C.: In other O.C. news, Schwartz reveals in the new issue of TV Guide magazine (on sale tomorrow) that he has scrapped plans to introduce Summer's oft-referred-to but-never-seen evil Step Monster in the flesh. Schwartz now says the character will remain in the shadows, adding, "it's much funnier if you never get to meet her." Actually, it would be much funnier if that's who Marissa ended up crushing on.
10. Seth on "The O.C.": The gangly Adam Brody effortlessly delivers his hilarious and sweetly sarcastic lines. He's positively delightful and brings a level of humor not often seen on prime time soaps. Heck, even his wardrobe is a hoot. Although I'm getting a little concerned this season because clearly Brody and the rest of "The O.C." gang are aware of how everyone just loves Seth. And Seth is much cuter when he isn't cognizant of how cute he is.
Quotes of the Week "I tried to Google myself and ended up crashing the entire computer network." Julie to Jimmy on "The O.C."
Seth Cohen Quotes of the Week "He enjoys sunset walks on the beach, punching people and not smiling." Seth pitching Ryan to Alex on "The O.C." "She used to be my shorty, but she got served." Seth about Summer on "The O.C." Thanks to TV Gal reader Jenny for the quote.
Highlights of the Week Ahead Okay, first of all it is going to take me quite some time to recover from the "Coop goes to Paris" outfit Mischa Barton was sporting last week (did you see the giant bow on the back of the beret?) Secondly, although I do think the strength of the show is that they've been in on the joke from the beginning, the self awareness works better in smaller doses. So I would take the inside baseball jokes, no matter how hilarious, down a notch. It's Winter Ball this week on "The O.C." (Thursday, FOX, 8 p.m.) so expect punching and dancing to ensue.
Best Bets Nothing says "Happy Holidays" like winter in "The O.C." Tonight, Seth (Adam Brody), Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie), Summer (Rachel Bilson) and Marissa (Mischa Barton) -- everyone's favorite Newport Beach quartet -- attend the annual "SnO.C. Winter Ball." How positively charming. In the meantime, Julie (Melinda Clarke) and Jimmy (Tate Donovan) spend some quality time together as leaders of the host committee, and Sandy (Peter Gallagher) gets closer to learning the secret that Caleb (Alan Dale) has been hiding. Later, Julie learns Marissa's secret when she finds her daughter home at lunchtime with "yard guy" D.J. (guest star Nicholas Gonzalez).
Kristin at E! From beckygene: Anything on The O.C.? Are Lindsay and Ryan going to be together? Yes. And they are, in my humble opinion, far more compatible than Marissa and Ryan. Though, Lindsay, Shannon Lucio (who is gorgeous in person, and couldn't be nicer) told me she is worried the fans might be upset with her. "I try not to think about what their reaction is going to be, because, if I do, I think I'll get depressed. So, I try to focus on the work."
From barbielover23: More O.C., please?I asked Nicholas Gonzalez, who plays D.J. and could not be hotter, which girl he'd choose in real life. He cringed and said, "I'm a brunette man, I love my Latin women, so, I'd have to say Summer. Sorry, Mischa." I then made one of my signature bad jokes, saying, "So, you'd like Summer if she were 'Primavera'? " After looking at my like I was an alien with nine heads, he gave a courtesy laugh, and said, "Yeah, exactly. But I don't think anyone at home is going to get your Italian." Funny me, I thought it was Spanish. Gulp-o. (*Note: In Spanish & in Italian, "primavera" means "spring" [the season], so they are both wrong in that joke)
From wendygirl: More O.C.! Or Smallville! How about both? Luke is back! Well, not exactly, but I hear Luke's portrayer, Chris Carmack, is making a return to the small screen with a few of our friends over at the WB's Smallville. Carmack guests on at least one upcoming episode, playing Geoff Johns, a college kid at the University of Metropolis who is trying to recruit Clark to play on the school's football team. Chris' character will be the good-looking Big Man on Campus. He's the team's star player, but he is hiding a deep, dark secret. No word yet on whether Chris ever returns to Newport.
From dmbgirl: Okay, please scoop on Seth and Alex on The O.C., if you haven't already--please!They are definitely moving forward, and he's going to become more rebellious because of it. He even gets into a fight and gets a big ol' shiner.
