SPOTLIGHT: O.C. Obsession Week! TEEN PEOPLE caught up with the The O.C. cast in California and recreated a crazy day in the life of their TV alter egos. Check out behind-the-scenes video and pics from our cover shoot with the kids of Orange County and vote: who's the most screwed this season?

WELCOME TO WALDENBOOKS, BITCH: It's the biggest thingto happen to the shopping mall since the arrival ofSpencer Gifts: This weekend, The O.C.'s newest hunks —Nicholas Gonzalez (Marissa's lawnboy) and MichaelCassidy (Summer's nerdy beau) — will make appearances at two Texas malls. On Saturday, the duo will visitThe Parks at Arlington and on Sunday they'll pop intoHouston's First Colony Mall. Their whirlwind weekendwill conclude with a $50 shopping spree at Kay-BeeToys.

OC Backlash

The O.C.
or as I like to call it: My Little Hour of Teen Soap-y Goodness"And suddenly there was a hot-hot yard guy in the yard. And he was hot." Summer, girl, truer words have rarely been spoken. (OK?) Tonight Marisa was stuck between a rock body and a hard body place. And that's the kind of conundrum I want. Let's see. Who should I date: Sexy yard guy or my mini stud of a rebel ex-boyfriend. Hmmmm. Seriously. Ladies and gentlemen I would like to thank Nicholas Gonzalez's parents for the gene pool that is that beautiful (and Ivy-league educated, I might add) boy. Although, note to the writers: If you turn Gonzalez's (D.J.) into Marisa's second stalker, I will be Up. Set. For real. Tipsy Margarita Mama does not that much adoration. In other news... The DA's coming down hard on Granddaddy Nichol. (Who will Julie marry next?) Seth's new comic book buddy turns out to be Summer's new beau Zack. (Bummer. He and Seth are so cute together.) Oh, and Hailey's off to Japan, leaving Jimmy in the broken-hearted dust. She probably had to bow out so she can work more hours on North Shore or something. Not that I will ever know because Fox scheduled that show at 9 pm opposite CSI and The Apprentice. Like I'm ever going to watch it now. And now I'll leave you with a quote from Summer to Seth, "It seems like you only want me when you can't have me." Again, girl: True. Words.

Rockin' the OC

Gay "O.C." writer: Don't blame me for Seth & Ryan's homoerotic undertonesExec producer Allan Heinberg blames the "HoYay" on creator Josh Schwartz, who "couldn't be straighter." "I'm so sensitive about my agenda that I censor it," says Heinberg (who, like Seth, is a "neurotic, comic-book-loving Jew"). "I understand you don't want to alienate those who just elected Bush for a second term." How to look "O.C." // Non-"O.C." watcher just loves "The O.C"

Kristin (E!)
From movieguru14: You have Seth Cohen's mom's name--how cool! For that...can I have some juicy O.C. scoopage?
My, well, it is just a day of Kristens, Kristins and Kirstens, is it not? I hear Seth starts dating a girl (Olivia Wilde) who works at the Bait Shop, which is sort of the new Peach Pit. Per Adam: "He starts dating a bad girl, and you'll know she's a bad girl by her one butterfly tattoo, which we keep referencing, as if she's Tommy Lee." And speaking of moms, Adam told me that his mom keeps an eye on everything everyone says about her baby. (How adorable is that?) That being the case, I'll keep the real-life references to a minimum and only tell you that Adam and Rachel seem very much together, very much unengaged and very much adorable. Adam, regarding his mom (whom he took to the Emmys, by the way): "It's like, the Bush team or the Kerry team will have like eight TVs on, and they have their rapid-response team. That's like my mom with her eight TVs, and it's freaky sometimes. I'll go home, and she'll be like, 'I complied a tape of all your clips.' There's a lot, not because I'm so famous, but because she does a good job."

From nickkiegene: How did The O.C. do on Thursday?
The O.C.'s ratings were okay--certainly the best Fox has had in a long time on Thursday nights, but they're still nowhere near Survivor's or Joey's. (Those shows came in first and second, respectively, for the time slot.) But keep the faith, after this week's heavy storylines, I think the show will lighten up and get back to The O.C. we know and love, and people will start flocking to it (and away from those other shows) in droves. And by the by, I don't think the numbers make much difference to the cast. Adam Brody told me, "That was Fox's call to put it [on Thursday]. The difference of an 11 and an 11.2 is huge to Fox, but for us, if we don't do well, we'll still have our fans. And they'll just move us up against some familial sitcom with an overweight guy and a hot chick. What is it with that anyway?"

From browneyes1114: Anything else on The O.C.?
I loved the premiere.Ryan's new love interest, Shannon Lucio (Lindsay), is instantly likable, or at least the actress is. She's far more grounded than the other girl characters on the show, and she's much more like Ryan. When I asked her which boy she'd choose in real life, Shannon blushed and said, "Ryan. I guess I better say Ryan!" They were shooting a very cute scene the day we were there, with Lindsay trying to fit in with the other girls over lunch. And Mischa's new guy, Nicholas Gonzalez? Hot. Apparently, smokin'-hot gardeners are all the rage these days.

Quotes

"The more time I spend with Zach, the less time I have to think about -- God, what's his face, built like a beanpole, curly hair, runs away like a bitch on a sailboat, leaving nothing but a note for his girlfriend, who cried and cried over him until the Fourth of July when she decided she doesn't cry over bitches on boats." Summer to Marissa on "The O.C." Thanks to TV Gal reader Jeff for the quote.

That's all for today. But don't forget that during November sweeps you get two TV Gal columns for the price of one. So I'll be back Thursday to discuss the inevitable "O.C." backlash (we love to build shows up only to tear them down), ask whether "Joey" can be saved and much, much more. Have
