Chris Carmack Biography (Thanks Kathleen! www.kriselen.com)

Chris Carmack was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in a family of five with a younger sister and older brother in suburban Rockville, Maryland, where he loved playing all types of sports: baseball, basketball, football and wrestling. At Magruder high school, however, his attentions turned to theatre and he began working passionately on three productions a year, on-stage and off, in addition to competing in numerous drama festivals. After high school, Chris went to New York University to pursue a degree in Arts in the Tisch School. While Chris was being located in New York for school, he was discovered by a modeling scout. For a struggling college student at the time, Chris gave modeling a try. His drop-dead gorgeous looks are exactly what Bruce Weber was looking for at Abercrombie & Fitch. In the following year, Chris scored big again by appearing on the Spring 2000 Guess campaign. The other catalogues and editorials that Chris has appeared in include Lord and Taylor, Macy's, Target, Who A U, ELLE France and Cosmo Girl. After two years in New York Chris decided to move to Los Angelos and try some acting.

While in Los Angeles Chris took some private acting lessons and went out on some 50 commercials before he landed his first commercial the KIA spot.

Interview
Are you working on any other projects aside from The OC?
Chris: Not currently, I am going on a few auditions and we will see what happens. I hope that The OC continues to go strong.

What is it like working with a cast so diverse in age?
Chris: It is not much different then the usual theatrical environment. I have done a lot of plays with young and old cast members. It is good to have the exuberance and energy of the younger cast members and the older members usually have good advice and have seen and done a lot.

A lot of people consider the show The OC to be a guilty pleasure. Why do you think that is?
Chris: For the same reason people like to gossip. You feel a little guilty that you are peeking into people's lives-almost like a voyeur experience. You get to revel in their conflict and downfall from a safe distance.

Recently the show dealt with the issue of homosexuality. How did you prepare for that episode and how do you think the show handled the issue?
Chris: The show touched on the subject but not necessarily dealt with the topic. The episode touched on the prejudice surrounding homosexuality and the fact that Luke went from a cool guy to the outcast because of his father's sexual orientation. It showed a lot of prejudice and it was unfair to Luke as we get to know him more. I worked on the episode and role like any role and that his character set an example. Luke's disgust stems more from his father's lie. Luke felt like his life was a lie and that lie hurt him and he has to live with his father's choices.

We know you have some musical ability. What instruments do you play and can you sing?
Chris: I can play the guitar and saxophone, my singing skills are limited. I did play the guitar in a recent episode of The OC.

Your birthday was on December 22nd, what were your plans?
Chris: Had dinner with his family and then went out with some of his friends later on in Washington, D.C.

You were involved in a lot of sports in high school. How did you turn to acting?
Chris: In high school I fell into acting. I did sports before in high school and I thought I was going to follow my brother's footsteps in sports. My freshman year I started doing drama and in my sophomore year I gave up sports to do drama, there was no time for sports.

What is the last great cd you bought and what made it so great?
Chris: A Muddy Waters album, my favorite tune is "You Can't Lose What You Never Had." It helped raise my appreciation for blues.

What do you do in your spare time?
Chris: Music, play his guitar, and he said he tries to play the saxophone. He said the sax is a little loud so he plays it at different times because he gets off of work at 3 a.m. and the neighbors don't appreciate him playing so late.

What actors would you like to work with?
Chris: Cate Blanchet and Jack Black. I love Jack Black and would love to work with him in any capacity.

What shows are must-see for you?
Chris: Truthfully I don't watch television. I watch The OC and that's about it.

Who is your biggest source of support?
Chris: My family.

What is your latest obsession? Are you into any particular book, sport or activity?
Chris: The guitar. It has spanned the past two years and is still going strong.

What was the transition like for you moving from Washington, D.C. to LA?
Chris: I actually moved from New York to LA. It was quite a transition, the biggest transition was New York though. You can get swept along by the pulse of life there. In LA you need to be proactive, I was whipped into shape coming out there.

What were you hoping to get for the holidays?
Chris: I hoped that it worked out that my whole family got together.

Is there anything you'd like to say to all of your fans and supporters?
Chris: Thank you for supporting us (on The OC), we're flattered that you're watching.

'O.C.' Hottie Mischa Gets the Bum's Rush
National Enquirer

RED-HOT "O.C." beauty Mischa Barton was BOOTED out of Hollywood's hippest fashion emporium -- after her words came back to haunt her! In a recent magazine interview the 18-year-old savaged trendy Melrose Avenue clothes mecca Fred Segal, calling it "hell on earth" and sniping: "Most of those designers are high-end generic. It's not made with any love." A few days later, Ms. Dis brazenly sauntered into "hell" and got her ass BURNED by the store manager, who stormed up as she browsed the racks and barked: "We know what you said and you're NOT welcome!" As the shell-shocked star stammered, "I didn't say that," employees and shoppers gaped in amazement. "I didn't say that," Mischa repeated -- but the manager was adamant and ordered her to leave the store. Mischa dropped an orange tank top she was about to try on and split with her pal. "I think she thought I was going to ask her for an autograph," the manager laughed after she departed. Huffed another employee: "I can't believe she had the nerve to come in here!"

I love the Vegas, too. Never been, but any town that can drive Jimmy to put a smackdown on Caleb and open Summer's eyes to the glory of Seth has got to be a bangin' good time. Not that casa Cohen was short on good stuff, either. That Hailey-Julie catfight was just campy enough to keep things from becoming Girls Gone Wild: Orange County and Theresa's baby news actually had me feeling a little bad for the Chino escapee. Until I realized that teenage pregnancy isn't as scary as the fact that the teenager in question is having a child so late in life.

'O.C.' Star Hands Out Sandy Cohen Fellowship

(Tuesday, April 27 01:03 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - When a group of "O.C."-loving law students at the University of California-Berkeley created the Sandy Cohen Fellowship earlier this year, they hoped to have Peter Gallagher on hand to present the award.

After all, it's named after the character he plays on the FOX drama, do-gooding one-time public defender Sandy Cohen. The $2,000 scholarship goes toward an internship in a public defender's office for a student at Boalt Hall, Berkeley's law school.

Gallagher went his Boalt fans one better -- not only showing up to present the award, but also kicking in half the amount of the fellowship.
"I didn't want to just throw some cabbage their way," Gallagher tells the Oakland Tribune. "These are people about to go out into the world to make a positive impact."

Gallagher, a graduate of Tufts University, says a brief stint at UC-Berkeley in the early 1970s convinced him to pursue a living in showbiz. "It was here at Berkeley a couple of years ago -- well, a couple of years before most of you were born -- that I chucked a conventional career to become an actor," he says.

Boalt student Jason Balitzer won the Sandy Cohen Fellowship. He says he was only an occasional "O.C." viewer before hearing about the fellowship, "[b]ut I watch it all the time now."

Seth (Adam Brody) and Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) join him for Sin City revelry as Kirsten (Kelly Rowan) grudgingly plans Julie's bachelorette party back in Newport Beach. In the meantime, Marissa (Mischa Barton) and Teresa (Navi Rawat) learn more about each other. But what Marissa learns about Miss Teresa might have hefty consequences. Peter Gallagher and Tate Donovan also star.

Watch with Kristin (eonline.com) (spoiler alert)

From Jen_Thomas: What does O.C. creator Josh Schwartz mean when he says the show will come full circle with the season finale?
Haven't a clue--but I can tell you that half the castmembers used that exact wording at the O.C. finale party on Tuesday. Make sure you check out the column if you haven't already--lots of O.C. yumminess!

Spoiler Shuffle
5. The O.C.: Luke returns.
TRUE, I think. A source tells me he's coming back, and it will be "at the most dramatic time." Even executive producer Josh Schwartz had this to say at the O.C. party: "People keep saying they miss Luke, they miss Anna, but how do they know they're gone for good? We never said that." Another spoiler: There's a fire at the Cohens' house, and Seth thinks that the fam might consider leaving the O.C. and moving back up to Berkeley, California.

From luveroftube: On The O.C., is Teresa pregnant with Ryan's baby? If so, Ryan would probably return home to Chino. Could that be "coming full circle"?
Hmmm, veddy interesting theory, mi amigo.

From airhead9684: You never talk to me, I feel so neglected! Can you please tell us what's going on with The O.C.?
But I gave you everything I have in this week's column, you airhead9684, you. Other than that, I can tell you that Hailey throws a serious wrench in the bachelorette-party plans.

From i3londeambition: Is it true that Seth is the pregnant one on The O.C.?
Yes, and I'm really concerned because I hear he's not taking his prenatal vitamins.

'O.C.' Star, Familiar Faces Visit WB Sweeps
(Monday, April 26 08:27 AM)

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "Grounded for Life" began its life on FOX before moving over to The WB, but for the May sweeps period, the comedy appears to be returning to its roots. Several other WB offerings will see emotional returns during the crucial month.

The two "Grounded for Life" guest stars for the month are "That '70s Show" co-star Mila Kunis and "The O.C." star Adam Brody. On Friday, April 30, Brad (Bret Harrison) gets a job to buy a car, only to have to suffer abuse from his manager (Brody). In the comedy's season finale, Brad leaves Lily (Lynsey Bartilson) behind, choosing to return to space camp with the supposedly imaginary Lana (Kunis).

As was announced previously, "Angel," heading towards its series finale, will welcome Darla (Julie Benz), Drusilla (Juliet Landau) and Andrew (Tom Lenk) back into the fold on Wednesday, May 5.

After a two-episode arc earlier in the season, bad boy Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to Star's Hollow for the Tuesday, May 11 episode "Gilmore Girls." At that time, he'll make Rory (Alexis Bledel) what is described as a "surprising offer."
Also, several departed Camden brothers will revisit Glenoak, when Matt (Barry Watson) and Simon (David Gallagher) reappear on "7th Heaven" in time for the Monday, May 10 episode.

In Friday's Metro (at least Philly edition):

TV Show The O.C. catapults songwriter out of obscurity

Since Alexi Murdoch's recent rise from obscurity, the singer-songwriter is besieged with inquiries from peers wondering how we went from nowhere eight months ago to headlining theaters.

Musicians often ask me how I did it and what should they do, Murdoch said during a telephone interview from Charleston, W. Va. The fact of the matter is that I'm embarressed by how easy it's been for me. I didn't do anything out of the norm. Sometimes things just happen.

The London native put together an EP, Four Songs, which he hoped would get notice in his adopted hometown of Los Angeles. An executive in the industry town helped Murdoch, 31, hit commercial paydirt. The catchy, melancholy track, Orange Sky, was picked up for use in the Fox television hit, The O.C. The response to the airplay was immediate.

The day after it was on it was evident something happened, Murdoch said. It's funny since I don't really watch the show but what's happened to me is huge because of the show. People watch the show and if they hear even a snippet of a song they like, they can check the show Web site, and find that song. That happened to me and I couldn't be more grateful. I just wanted to get on the radio in Los Angeles.

Well, that happened as well. LA's KCOW added Orange Sky to its playlist late last year and Murdoch has watched as his fan base had burgeoned.

It's been great, Murdoch said. Things just keep building.

Murdoch, who will perform tonight perform tonight at the Steel City Coffeehouse and Saturday at the Theatre of Living Arts, is a well known commodity in the Delaware Valley thanks to WXPN, which as championed the songsmith.

Philadelphia has been one of the biggest towns for me thanks to 'XPN, Murdoch said. I appreciate all of their support.

Four Songs will be rendered during the soft-spoken performer's shows, as well as a number of tracks, which will be featured on Murdoch's forthcoming first full-length release.

I can't just go out there a play four songs, Murdoch said with a laugh. I have more than enough for a full set.
