Hot Mom: Like David Anders before her, The O.C.'s Melinda Clarke (still one of my absolute faves) also knows better than to talk about her character's (Julie Cooper) upcoming fling, so she talked around it at the Fox party. "It's all a rumor right now," she said. "But one of the elders and one of the youngsters are gonna be like, you know, they're going to be..." Schtuping? Just a guess. It also sounds like Julie gets even nastier before season's end. "From what I understand," Melinda said, "Julie becomes very powerful. You haven't seen anything when it comes to her power plays. The finale is going to be fantastic." Sounds it. Now all I need is an invite to McG's house to watch. Did you know the cast actually gets together every week with the boss man to watch each new episode? "They all honestly really like each other," McG (also at the party) told me. "It's the weirdest thing." ____________________

And, congratulations! According to a radio station in my area (PA/NJ), now that Micha is 18-years-old, she is now officially legal to date Ben, and has officially remarked as doing so. So, those two are a confirmed couple!

MC Hammer, demons and Gilmore Girls all in a day's work Alameda Times-Star January 15, 2004 Keiko Agena, who plays Rory Gilmore's best friend in the series, was hanging out by Luke's. She was asked about her former boyfriend, played by Adam Brody. The boyfriend was booted so that Brody could take the role of Seth, one of the starring roles on Fox's "The O.C."
"See? He just dumped me and took off for California," Agena giggled. "When you see him, tell him he should have stayed because that move just isn't working out for him." ____________________
The O.C. See? I told you Oliver was no good! The wild hair, the curled lip. The parents we've never seen. The fake girlfriend. That kid is so freakish, it's almost too soapy. If there is such a thing. Oh, who am I kidding? There's no such thing as too much soap in the O.C., beeyatch! And that's why Seth needs to get with Summer, Ryan had to steal that letter from Marissa's locker, and Oliver must go. But don't let those ads for the next episode scare you Ollie fans. Emily Valentine almost torched the Walsh's parade float and still went on to have a normal life. This one will be just fine.
REVENGE OF THE NERD: Seth Cohen is about to get a lot more popular. Adam Brody — the actor behind The O.C.'s breakout geek — has landed a supporting role in the Brad Pitt–Angelina Jolie thriller Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In the film, Pitt and Jolie star as a married couple who discover that they are assassins hired to kill each other. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brody's character gets kidnapped early in the film only to return home just in time for Chrismukkah.
LOST AND FOUND: Fox is attempting to squeeze more life out of The Simple Life when it airs yet another "Lost Episode" on Monday (8:30 pm/ET). In the episode, Paris loses all credibility when she ditches her hottie boyfriend for a psychopath named Oliver. Oh wait, that's The O.C. ____________________
Bret Harrison Escapes Being 'Grounded' for 'The O.C.' (Wednesday, January 21 02:49 PM) By Kate O'Hare
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - There are advantages to having Adam Brody as a roommate besides being able to split the rent, as Bret Harrison finds out in tonight's episode of FOX's teen soaper "The O.C."
The 'Grounded for Life' star plays Danny, a rival with Seth Cohen (Brody) for the affections of Summer (Rachel Bilson).
"They get them out so damn quick," Harrison says. "I shot that three weeks ago!"
Through Brody, Harrison met twentysomething writer Josh Schwartz, the creator of "The O.C."
"A couple of months ago," Harrison recalls, "Adam said, 'Josh was talking about writing an episode for you.' He knew I was an actor. I don't know if he'd seen anything from 'Grounded.' A week after that, he started pitching me the storyline. I said, 'Wow, that sounds so much fun.'
Asked what the dynamic is among Danny, Seth and Summer, Harrison says, "Seth's jealous because Danny's this new guy, and everybody around Seth seems to think Danny's so hilarious. Seth's the only one who doesn't think so. And the only guy to see eye-to-eye with Seth is his dad, Peter Gallagher, which is a really funny scene.
"It's a difference in humor. Seth is very witty, with a dry humor, and I come into town, and I'm this big, funny guy. I'm Jim Carrey-esque, and everybody thinks this guy is so hilarious. He's doing these obvious jokes. Then Seth will crack a joke, and nobody gets it. Silence falls."
Now that both roommates are working full-time on shows, Harrison says, "We're rarely here. Sometimes we go a week without seeing each other, or, if we do, it's in passing, like 'Hey, what's up?', at the elevator."
As to whether Danny could return, Harrison says, "He could, if 'Grounded for Life' let him. It was so difficult to do the one episode. Theoretically, it wasn't. I'm working on a sitcom, and the hours are very lax. But when somebody owns you, they want to own you."
After beginning in a guest-starring role as lovestruck neighbor kid Brad O'Keefe on The WB's "Grounded for Life," Harrison has now become a fixture in the show, which stars Donal Logue as the thirtysomething patriarch of the Irish-Catholic Finnerty clan. "I walk through the door without knocking now," Harrison says.
In a bit of TV irony, "Grounded for Life" began on FOX, the home of "The O.C.," but then hopped to The WB. Harrison thinks the move has been beneficial for him. (read more)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Well, it was an exhausting weekend for the TV Gal Search Party. There are so many missing characters. One group tried to find Nina on "Everwood," another sought out Diane on "Ed," and a third group kept looking for that intern on "The West Wing." The "Will & Grace" group was happy to report that Rosario would soon be back, but there's still no word on Jack's son.
The group looking for Bonnie's missing daughter on "Life with Bonnie" is having a lot of difficulty accepting that little Samantha is gone for good. They take some comfort in the fact that she's probably hanging out with Marissa's little sister on the set of "The O.C."
But all this got me thinking, it's not merely the missing characters we have to worry about, it's the underused ones as well. (read more)
Quotes of the Week "I never really wanted to be a financial planner ... or a thief." Jimmy to Sandy about his career choices on "The O.C."
Seth Cohen Quote of the Week TV Gal reader John pointed out that we should accept that my favorite TV teenager will probably always be uttering something quotable. So here's this week's Seth quote: "Inside me there's a very old Jewish man who is very excited."
Spoiler (we already know though) Word is that Summer and Seth will get to know each other in the biblical sense on "The O.C."
We're all about finding the similarities between "The O.C." and "90210" here at Team TV Gal. So I'm delighted to report that TV Gal readers Candy and Amy definitely think Oliver is the show's Emily Valentine. The gang best watch their homecoming float in this week's episode (FOX, 9 p.m. Wednesday). ____________________

Loathe: "Addicted" video Never been a fan of overly dramatic videos, especially ones that have a 28-year-old guy hooking up with an 18-year-old girl. I pretty much puke when I see the pairing of Enrique Inglesias and Micha Barton. Enrique needs to ditch the melodrama. (with accompanying pic of Micha and Enrique)

You know "California" as The O.C. theme song but alot has in the two years since the band released that one. (rest is a quick interview)

pg. 81 Pulling an... Ali Gazan
When someone has a breakdown, they pull a Mariah (as in the diva and her famous meltdown). After Jessica Simpson's comments on MTV's Newlyweds, pulling a Jessica means to say something stupid. But why should they be the only celebs with their own phrases.
Pulling an...O.C. Meaning: being overly dramatic about something Usage: "I barely touched my sister and she acts like I beat her up. She pulls an O.C. so Mom will yell at me." (with pic of Adam, Micha and Ben) ____________________
By Chris Gardner Reuters/Hollywood Reporter PARK CITY, Utah (Hollywood Reporter) - Adam Brody is breaking out of "The O.C." to the big screen.
Brody, one of the leads on Fox's hit series about life in Orange County, Calif., has landed a supporting role in the Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie thriller "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Pitt and Jolie play a bored married couple who discover that they are enemy assassins hired to kill each other. Brody will play Hector, a character who gets kidnapped early in the film only to show up later in a surprising turn. The part was originally envisioned as an ethnic role, but insiders said director Doug Liman, who is also an executive producer on "The O.C.," pressed to have the part rewritten specifically for Brody. The Regency Enterprises project is shooting in Los Angeles. While Brody has been seen on the big screen in such films as "Grind" and "The Ring," the role in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" marks his first major film off the success of "The O.C." ____________________

The O.C. is one of the many shows broadcast on one company's network (Fox) but is actually owned/produced by another (in this case, Warner).
Fans of the show will enjoy knowing that Warner Home Video was discussing TV-on-DVD at a recent retail summit. Very casually they mentioned that The O.C. is coming to DVD, as part of their new plans to use DVD releases to market upcoming seasons.
TVShowsOnDVD.com Warner spells things out at Global Retail Summit Challenges, opportunities, strategies outlined as video, TV, theatrical converge by Daniel Frankel 10/17/2003
OCT. 17 | Cocktail parties on the set of The West Wing and with the cast of The Matrix Reloaded at the famed Morton's restaurant. A presentation from NBA Hall of Fame center Bill Walton. A speech from Warner Bros. Television president Peter Roth.
These were just a few of the experiences shared by more than 200 retail officials at the Oct. 8-9 conference conducted by Warner Home Video at the company's Burbank, Calif., headquarters.
...(Warner's company executive VP of worldwide marketing Mark) Horak noted that (Warner Home Video) received ample support for the conference from other units of the media conglomerate, notably the TV side of the business.
Highlighted by presentations from Kevin Bright, executive producer for Friends; John Wells, executive producer of The West Wing and E.R.; and TV division topper Roth, Warner outlined a new more aggressive strategy for TV on DVD titles whereby programming will be released closer to its network airdate.
"They're going to start releasing DVD versions of the prior season just as the new season comes out," said Best Buy senior VP of entertainment Gary Arnold. "They're trying to tie DVD into consumer excitement for the new TV season."
Warner also indicated that two new hit series--the youth drama The O.C., which it produces for the Fox network, and prime-time soap Nip/Tuck, which it produces for cable's FX--will soon come to DVD as well. No released dates were offered. ____________________
Pity poor Urkel and Screech. Clearly, they were born at the wrong time. Today's TV geeks are such a far cry from the walking punch lines of yore, we're laughing with them more often than at them. And how's this for progress? Some — like Everybody Loves Raymond's unlikely newlywed, Robert Barone — even get the girl. Read on and see for yourself: The tube's new breed of geeks has made it hip to be square.
Seth Cohen, The O.C.: Though his own mom has called this green wallflower a late bloomer, it wasn't long before he put away his toy horse to sow his own wild oats. After all, in the span of a Summer (pun intended), the Chrismukkah elf went from Newport's Most Unwanted to the guy atop two — count 'em, two! — hotties' to-do lists.
