In TV Guide News:
Micha says to forget 90210, this is the OC, bitch (not literally) & in the Watercooler: by Damian Holbrook: Without getting into my weird soccer hang-ups, or the absolute adoration all of us should have for Adam Brody's Seth, I have to say, the Harbor School may be the best place for drama since Brandon Walsh's cabana-boy days at the Beverly Hills Beach Club. Sports rivalries, school fairs, catty classmates and one scary-ass headmistress all promise us a very interesting semester. And forget those teaser ads about Ryan and Marissa's first kiss. This hour's greatest moment came as soon as Samaire Armstrong returned to town as Anna from Pittsburgh. East Coast in the hizzy!

Kristin from E!:

From mishale1: Is your episode of The O.C. this week?
-Next Wednesday. And thank you so much for calling it my episode. Given that I walk into the yacht party behind Ryan and Marissa in a scene that may not even be shown, it is clearly mine, all mine. And please, try not to think of me differently when you see my star-studded Fox premiere. I'm just a regular down-to-earth tater.

From katerbug: Any more O.C. news?
-Marissa drives Ryan to Chino where he meets with up a guy named Arturo, to whom Ryan's brother owes money. Arturo's sister, Theresa, is there, and it turns out she used to be Ryan's girlfriend. Ay caramba! Marissa and Theresa have a bit of a verbal spat (delish!) but save the fist-flying fights for the guys.

From cecilia: Hey! From one O.C. addict to another, are Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson dating?
-Many of you have been asking. I'm assuming it's because they're often joined at the hip (and were joined at various other body parts while bumpin' and grindin' at that TV Guide party a few weeks back). But his publicist tells me they're just friends--good friends--and there's no lovey-doveyness going on.

From thenextkristin: Can I marry Adam Brody?
-Only if we can all move to Utah. FYI, I'm in the process of getting his beautiful butt in here to chat.

Thanks to Amanda @ R-B.net for this one :
"Theres one snippet of Mischa that can be seen on MTV's 'Rich Girls'. She was at Ally Hilfiger's high school prom at Tavern on the Green and was onscreen for a brief moment" So try and catch that for a glimpse of Mischa!

Don't cry over spilt OC.
If you miss tonite's (11/5/03) episode, look no further than Thursday at 9pm, when Fox will be showing a repeat of Wednesday night's episode. This should happen for a bit, since the network needs to rejuggle their scheduling due to Skin & Luis (and maybe something else I'm forgetting) did not pan out well with audiences. And if you like That 70s Show they will also be showing repeats of previous season(s) on Tuesdays.

Fox's Fall Falls Flat (except for The OC)

Upcoming Episodes:

November 5: The Heights: Luke and Ryan's battle for Marissa heats up on the soccer field, but a definitive winner emerges at the back-to-school fair; Kirsten fears that Sandy's co-worker has a hidden motive for assigning him a case against her father; and Seth gets a leg-up on landing Summer with the return of Anna from Pittsburgh.

November 12: The Perfect Couple: Ryan and Marissa's first date is derailed after he realizes Julie's efforts to reunite with her family may come with strings attached. Next door, Kirsten's marriage is rocked by her dad's loose lips during arbitration with Sandy and his co-worker; and Seth sees the softer, more jealous side of Summer, thanks to the mounting attentions of Anna.

Please check out The Official OC website for all the newest features like best quotes, music, fashion, soundtrack, etc.

Also, there is a new official weblog. It's extremely up-to-date, has some great extras, cast members have left audio files and so much more. You won't be disappointed. Well, my work computer stinks so I don't get to experience it, but hopefully you all will enjoy.

Take care

It's all about Micha

In Elle magazine, Mischa has two pages of photospread and a little synops about her and her clothing style.

In TV Guide Story: The Girl Next Door On next week's cover: The O.C.'s Micha Barton has earned a reputation as a consummate pro. She's done a video with Enrique Inglesias and ads for Neutrogena. Admits the actress, "I don't remember my last day off." Even so, Barton says she has waited her whole life for the chances that her O.C. success has afford her. Go to TV Guide for the full story.

'O.C.'s' Golden Girl
Success of new series dizzying for star Mischa Barton
By John Crook
Zap2it.com

Surf's up, but winsome Marissa Cooper's spirits were still way down as "The O.C." returned to the FOX lineup in its new Wednesday time period.

The show's addicted fans were left on the edge of their seats when "The O.C." took a short hiatus for baseball playoffs: The last pre-baseball episode ended on a dire note for Marissa (Mischa Barton).

Devastated by the news that her parents (Tate Donovan, Melinda Clarke) are getting a divorce and heartbroken by her boyfriend Luke's (Chris Carmack) dalliance with another girl, Marissa found herself in a low-class Mexican gin joint where she knocked back a fistful of painkillers and washed them down with tequila. At the final fade-out, love-struck Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) was carrying her limp form from a filthy alley where she had collapsed.

Barton said some fans were upset that the show was off until Oct. 29, "and would ask me to tell them what was going to happen to my character. Clearly people already have gotten very attached to these characters, and I don't think that happens very often.

"I have people coming up to me daily now telling me how much they love the show and how invested they are in the characters now."

That level of celebrity is a little dizzying to the 17-year-old Barton, although she has been acting since she was discovered by an agent at summer camp when she was 8. It's just that most of her work has been in prestigious and critically acclaimed indie films and plays that a mass audience never saw. In fact, prior to "The O.C.," perhaps her most widely known work was as the young poisoning victim whose ghost threw up on little Haley Joel Osment in the box-office smash "The Sixth Sense."

"A lot of people remember that scene," Barton laughs. "Most of my career has been spent doing work that I was very proud of, even if it hasn't been seen by that many people. If nothing else, those jobs were a great experience for me.

"What is wonderful about 'The O.C.' is that it has both good writing and good acting and it also is being embraced on such a wide level by audiences. I am very ... proud to be a part of it. And it has been great to get that positive feedback so quickly. You know, when you do a film, you have to wait for months to see how it will be received."

Born in London, Barton moved to New York with her parents when she was four. Shortly after that fateful summer camp encounter with an agent, at age 9 she landed a leading role in "Slavs!" a play by Tony Kushner ("Angels in America"). Additional work followed at Lincoln Center and the New York Shakespeare Festival, among other venues, and she also spent three seasons as Lily Benton Montgomery on the ABC soap "All My Children."

Barton made her feature film debut in 1998 with the well-received Sundance Film Festival favorite "Lawn Dogs," in which she starred with another rising actor, Sam Rockwell ("Matchstick Men"). The small but loyal audience of ABC's "Once and Again" also remember Barton for her acute and very poignant portrayal of Katie Singer, the lesbian cousin of Jessie Sammler (Evan Rachel Wood, "Thirteen").

Despite the gratifying response Barton received for the latter TV gig, the actress concedes that just a few years ago she planned to give the medium a wide berth.

"For a few years I noticed that doing television was kind of frowned upon among the actors I was working with, especially in theater, because there was a sense that the quality was lacking and the overall level of work was just not very high," she says, "but the bar has really been raised in the past couple of years.

"When you have producers like Doug Liman, who directed our pilot, and McG, you get a show that is just really well crafted. They were very careful in how they cast our show, and I think it shows in the ensemble I am working with. This is just an incredible group of actors. But, of course, that means that we all have to stay on our toes with one another, because there is no room for slacking off."

While Barton's cosmopolitan, theater-trained roots might seem an odd fit to play a California golden girl like Marissa, the actress says she intuitively understands most facets of her TV character.

"It's interesting, but in many ways Marissa's personality is a lot like my own," she explains. "She's mature for her age and pretty together on a level beyond her years. I'm not from Marissa's world, but certainly I have traveled a bit and been to California before, so I can understand her on a lot of levels.

"I've had a very different upbringing in that I have had the opportunity to see a lot of different places and get a sense of what they are like. What's cool about Marissa is that she is aware of the larger world outside the O.C. and she wants to get outside of her neighborhood. As the show goes on, you'll see Marissa wanting to know more and more about this world Ryan comes from."

The show made its initial splash against a late-summer lineup of reruns and generally second-rate reality programming, but Barton says she isn't wasting any energy worrying whether the show can hold its own against more formidable competition.

"Frankly, I got the impression the network didn't originally expect us to do nearly as well as we have done," she says, "but something incredible happened with us: We started good and got better week after week in terms of our audience. I think and I hope that after a few weeks off, people will still be interested in watching us, but all I can do is stay focused on the quality of the work and let other people worry about ratings."

Oh, and Peter Gallagher was on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn last night. They discussed golf, Peter's marriage, The OC and Craig's discovery of the bushy eyebrows on the Daily Show many years back. Peter got 3 out of 5 questions right in the "5 Questions" segment. He also had a tough time describing what The O.C. is about.
